Blackberries. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.

For a recyclable fashion show, I thought I'd try to dye the organic cotton I had left over from an organic show with a dye bath of nothing but pureed beets and blackberries and a little hot water.

First I mixed up three beets and a box of blackberries in a food processor and squeezed that concoction through a foot of nylon tights.

It looks like I killed someone.

Dexter Jess.

It dried a little bit bluer than this.  Most of the pigment washed out, but it still left a nice pastel shade of something between pink and periwinkle.
I'm making a corset top out of cardboard coffee sleeves to go with it.

Pictures of the garment soon.

Cotton summer dress inspired by absolutely nothing.

Why Darling, You're Glowing!

My submission for wearable art is almost done!
She still needs a zipper, and a little pouch to hide the light battery in.

Seven Year Itch Isn't A Very Good Movie.

First outfit WIP for Jessdoll!
(This is incredibly vain, isn't it?)

Oh my God I don't know how to shade.

Marijess Montimroe.  I know, clever.

Blonde clearly isn't my color.

Something happened to my PSD file for the original Jessdoll.  It's, well, gone.  I'm mildly horrified.  It's an issue because I had to erase a portion of the lines of my face in order to not make the wig layer look really stupid.  No one wants brown hair sticking out of their Marilyn wig.  How embarrassing.  At least I still have the Illustrator file of the line art, but I'm gonna have to color... me... all over again.

I wish life worked like this.  Crawl out of bed, select a makeup and clothing layer, hide your gross morning layer and go.

ILY, Norma Jeane Baker.

Void.

I haven't been accomplishing much lately.  And yet I don't have time to sleep either.  I just finished a physics project, very reluctantly, and because of it, had to forgo the patternmaking final that was also due today.  I wish it didn't have to be one or the other.

On the bright side, there was a rainbow in my window ten minutes ago.

Here's something... kind of.  Ok.  I think Hugo Weaving is really cool.  Like, can wear a fancy elf tiara and still be really cool cool.  I mean the man's name is Hugo.  So here's my sad attempt.

"  Isildurrr!!!"

He looks more like Jack Nicholson.  Ehh.  I'll remember how to draw if it's the last thing I do.
I also really want to draw grump!hobbit.

Something Old, Something Green.

This is a necklace from over the summer, made from metal hinges and a key shaped ceiling fan pull from Lowes.  I hadn't put it on the blog yet, and I'm really proud of it, so why not.

I'm in the process of making a shift-like dress for spring (which is not so much sneaking up but barreling down the street unannounced, egads!).  I'm using this incredible pale celadon polyester shantung, but the design issue is that I don't have much of it.  I love this stuff.  It has so much character.

Woah There.

Well, I finally got my Wacom Intuos4, and mama like.  I decided on the small, because it fits perfectly in my leather saddle bag and, well, it's less money.  I've been using it all day and let me tell you, I am so fucking unwieldy with this little bastard.  The sensitivity on the nib is phenomenal, if only I could adjust to using it.  I'm having considerable trouble keeping my strokes at consistent weights.  Aside from my retardation, this is an extraordinary product.

As a sort of post-CD tutorial-tutorial, I traced over my Rancor sketch to see if I could improve my lines and play around with some coloring.  (I started with the cuff.  Can you tell?  o_O )  I got a little bit better throughout, but the fact is... this took me all day.

Will the girl accustomed to drawing and coloring with her laptop's trackpad learn to harness the awesome power of an actual professional pen tablet?  Will she ever learn that she doesn't actually have the Force when reaching for something just out of reach from the couch?  Stay tooned.

That is misspelled on purpose.

Work In Progress.

So.  Sleeping from 3-6:30 pm apparently means being up all night.  So here's Man!Beast.  Sorry about the worst image ever.  I drew it in a gigantic bristol pad that's too big for my scanner.  Carytown Burgers and Fries with a friend tomorrow, then progress on a dress pattern (hopefully).

Nothing, Nothing, Tra-La-La.

Circle skirt with 4" yoke.  This is what the skirt of the dress I'm making during spring break will look like.  (Only hemmed.)

All It Needs Is A Little Love.

My new pet.

 Luke is such an asshole.
He still needs more bumps and wrinkles and whatnot.
